Former Secretary and Chairman of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front, Bijon Kanti Sarkar, is set to be appointed as a Special Assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The General Secretary of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, Santosh Sharma, confirmed the development to journalists after meeting with the Prime Minister at the Secretariat on Thursday (April 2). He stated, “We had raised a demand with the Prime Minister to increase the representation of our community in all sectors of national life. Today, she gave us good news. A Special Assistant from our community is being appointed-he is Bijon Kanti Sarkar.”
Sharma further added, “He will be officially appointed today. The people of the country will learn this good news within a short time.”
This appointment is being viewed as a significant step toward increasing the representation and participation of minority communities in the highest levels of government administration.
