Two twin brothers were killed after being run over by a train near their home in Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur.

The deceased were identified as Tayeb Sheikh, 4, and Ahmed Sheikh, 4, sons of local businessman Akash Sheikh from Lakshandia village. The incident occurred around 2:00 pm on Wednesday (April 1) at the Bhushna-Lakshandia rail gate under Nowapara union.

According to police and local sources, the accident took place when a local train traveling from Rajbari to Bhatiapara ran over the two children. The rail gate is located a short distance after the train passes Madhukhali station.

Local Union Parishad member Md. Akidul Islam said the two children were going to a nearby shop beside their house to buy food items. At that time, they উঠে আসে on the railway track while attempting to cross the rail gate, leading to the accident.

He added that, to his knowledge, there is no gateman at the crossing. People usually cross the rail line on their own caution, but it is difficult for children to understand such precautions.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Rajbari Railway Police Station Md. Mizanur Rahman said police members were heading to the scene after receiving the news. Necessary legal action will be taken in this regard.
